Our Story
At the intersection of heritage and innovation lies Tekoa Collection. Founded in 2019 as Tekoa Skincare and thoughtfully relaunched in 2024, after a 2 year break to complete my nursing studies. Tekoa Collection reflects a journey that spans continents and cultures. As a British-Nigerian, grown up in Scotland and now calling Canberra, Australia home, I've woven my diverse experiences into every aspect of this luxury skincare line.
My entrepreneurial spirit first emerged at age 15 when my mother asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I told her I wanted to own a Bed and Breakfast, she then suggested I study Hospitality Management at University which I did with a combined degree in Entrepreneurship. At age 15, I also began crafting and selling jewellery, later this entrepreneurial spirit bloomed into a successful home bakery, and now finding its fullest expression in Tekoa Collection.
Our Philosophy
Tekoa Collection represents a holistic approach to skincare, extending from scalp to sole of the feet. Our philosophy is grounded in the belief that true luxury lies in understanding what we put on and in our bodies. This fascination with ingredients—their properties, purposes, and potential—drives our formulation process. We carefully select premium raw materials, from rich Shea Butter, commonly found in West Africa to nourishing Coconut oil, creating products that transforms skincare routine to daily ceremony. Each formulation is a testament to our commitment to simplicity, efficacy, and indulgence.
The Name
The story of Tekoa speaks to the power of divine timing. In 2011, during a profound period of self-discovery, at a crossroads in my life and crisis of faith, I encountered the name "Tekoa" while reading 2 Samuel 14. Weeks later, passing a tea shop on Edinburgh's Frederick Street, a thought came to mind, "Tekoa will be a nice name for a small business someday." The name lay dormant until 2019, when it resurfaced as the perfect embodiment of this venture and vision—a testament to the ways in which life's seeds of inspiration take root and flourish.
